Tube and Germanium VCAs by L-1

Here we have a look at both tube VCAs and the Germanium VCA by L-1. This is a side-by-side comparison where all three modules receive the same signal and we are playing around with the settings. Don’t expect anything too musical in this video, this time its all about showing the different character of these modules, while they perform the same task.

All three VCAs are capable of extreme sounds, which is not surprising when you read the labels of the input attenuators – Drive and Feedback.

The L-1 range seems to have a good balance – with clean VCAs and mixers on one side and the dirt specialist VCAs that we hear in this comparison.
