sooperRadio with Aditya Nandwana/Animal Factory Amplification

Today it’s that time again, SooperRadio is going on the air! From 5-7 pm it’s all about electronic music and musical instruments with a Superbooth perspective.

During the eleventh broadcast in late October you will get recent impressions and news from India. Aditya Nandwana from Animal Factory Amplification gives us a detailed presentation of some of his modules. The Indian manufacturer of guitar effects and Eurorack modules has also visited and exhibited at Superbooth a few times. In 2018, he was able to win Alexander Hacke for a lecture-concert to introduce the Godeater effect device. Here is the video about it:

A few weeks ago Aditya also visited SchneidersLaden, where he presented his newest (and the older) modules in a workshop. The video is still in the works. But here you can find a video of an earlier workshop of Animal Factory Amplification at SchneidersLaden:

Enjoy the show! You can listen to it here:
In Berlin on 88,4 MHz or in Potsdam on 90,7 MHz or via stream on piradio.de

Video: Modular Synthesizer Ensemble @SUPERBOOTH22

The Modular Synthesizer Ensemble has become an integral part of the Superbooth Berlin events. After the successful cooperation of the previous years. Gammon and his ensemble of 12 individual modular synthesizers has again been part of SUPERBOOTH22.

The Modular Synthesizer Ensemble offers the possibility to make music together in a group without any previous musical knowledge. The participants experiment, improvise and compose together and perform the results live in public.

This is a short video of the final composition made on the Saturday of SUPERBOOTH22:

SchneidersLaden presents SUPERBOOTH23

Summer, Sun and Synthesizers – next SUPERBOOTH23 announced

This is the offical Press Release by Superbooth Berlin:

SUPERBOOTH22 and SOOPERgrail welcomed around 6000 trade visitors, day guests and over 170 international exhibitors at FEZ-Berlin. In the year of the 20th anniversary of the Superbooth, for the first time innovative guitar builders were represented in larger numbers and with their own exhibition space under the name SOOPERgrail.

The expanded concept of the largest trade event for electronic musical instruments in Europe has proven successful, and Superbooth Berlin GmbH has overcome the worst obstacles resulting from the Corona crisis. This clears the way for next year’s planning – the date is set:

SUPERBOOTH23 and SOOPERgrail #2 at FEZ-Berlin: May 11-13, 2023.

– with even more innovative instruments and music, concerts, workshops, presentations — indoors and outdoors –

“For the anniversary version of Superbooth, as it turned out after all obstacles and difficulties, we can really only be grateful to everyone and congratulate everyone who was able to be there. The delicate little flower called #SOOPERgrail also made a successful start and the international events – above all the presentation with Hainbach for the Goethe Institute Tokyo and the participation of Tom Oberheim and Dave Smith with their new instrument – were important factors of culture and economy alike. We are already excited to see what will develop from this next year!”

Andreas Schneider

The various areas of the anniversary edition each convinced with their very own atmosphere, which always meandered between music festival, nerd get-together and a group trip with friends. The basis for relaxed encounters, lively exchange and a good mood was provided by the extended event area in the park, the large number of exhibitors and the summery weather.

Live:

The stage program represents an enormous variety of musical variation. Early electronic instruments such as the Trautonium were on display. Hainbach presented how electronic music was made by artists like Stockhausen in the 1960s, and many concerts featured modular synthesizers, which can be seen as modern successors to the featured instruments. From the stages you could hear great live electronic music from ambient to techno, a lot of experimental and innovative works. Surprisingly for many guests, there was a performance by Richie Hawtin on the last day of the event.

The Modular Synthesizer Ensemble gave the mostly young participants their first stage experience with a composition they had previously developed together in a workshop lasting several hours.

Within the framework of SOOPERgrail, there were many outstanding concerts and workshops, with individual instruments presented. In addition to traditional crafts, the artists and exhibitors also showed possibilities that enable expanded artistic expression. With the presented technologies, external devices can be controlled and microtonal music can be played.

The main stage for diverse guitar music was located in the circus tent. There was, among other things, a blues concert by DobBroMan with spontaneous support from Thorsten Quaeschning of Tangerine Dream, the performance of Nagen und Kotzmann, who blurred the line between drone, ambient and free jazz, and Linalab, who brought along a drummer for her electronic post-rock and processed the sound of her electric guitar with a synthesizer.

Documentation:

The lecture-concerts (Gesprächskonzerte) recorded during the event are now available on Superbooth Berlin’s YouTube and Vimeo channels, and the recordings of the other concerts will be released in the coming weeks.

Lecture-concerts are a combination of concert and presentation, where new instruments are introduced in a concrete musical context. This year, legendary synthesizer manufacturer Oberheim made a comeback and presented a new instrument in this format that, like its predecessors, seems to have the potential to become a classic.

We would like to expressly thank all exhibitors, artists, media representatives, trade visitors and last but not least the numerous private visitors for their great support and the wonderful three days and are already looking forward to SUPERBOOTH23 and SOOPERgrail next year.

Save the date now: SUPERBOOTH23 and SOOPERgrail from May 11 to 13, 2023 at FEZ-Berlin!

Video: Jessica Kert live at SUPERBOOTH21

Berlin-based electronic musician and techno producer Jessica Kert especially enjoys playing improvised live sets with modular synthesizers. A while ago she discovered the Buchla200e system for herself during the lockdown. At her day job at SchneidersLaden, the noble device was always available after work and so a deeper understanding of the instrument developed over many hours of experimentation.

After some time, the point was reached to bring what she had learned to the stage, which we are very happy about. Enjoy the full documentation of her concert below:

New spaces: beSOOPER at the Badesee

“We have revised our space concept for beSOOPER and discovered the Badesee (Bathing Lake), now there is even more air and space for sound and visions of new music.”

SUPERBOOTH Berlin

Parts of FEZ-Berlin are in the potential access of the city as emergency accommodation for refugees from Ukraine – which is of course appropriate and important. Against this background, it has been decided to develop further areas in the park grounds, to do without the use of the West Wing and to divide the Seebühne (Sea-side Stage) between two new locations. All artists announced for the Seebühne will be presented on the beach stage at the Badesee (Bathing Lake) and the new stage in the circus tent.

beSOOPER will thus be even bigger, with even more space and activities both outdoors and indoors: more than 150 booths with all kinds of electronic musical instruments and guitars of all known and unknown types, about twenty performances, concerts, presentations and workshops per day, including some late-night activities in the Bungalowdorf (Bungalow Village).

The daily cultural program will start at the latest with the workshop presentation of the Modular Synthesizer Ensemble at 1:30 pm and will continue outdoors at full intensity and volume until at least 10 pm.

Most of the booths and activities for guitar enthusiasts are concentrated on the upper floor of FEZ-Berlin, while the SOOPERgrail concerts will take place in the circus tent. Many of the countless synthesizer and modular manufacturers can be found and experienced in the now expanded tent village – as already very successfully realized in 2021.

The well-known and popular catering partners for food and drinks can be found at all outdoor locations.

In the foyer of the FEZ-Berlin there is the general info desk again, as well as the familiar ticket entrance for all visitors and artists, exhibitors and press partners. Guests arriving by public transport via the S-Bahn station Wuhlheide can get their wristband already at the bungalow village, upon presentation of their digital or printed ticket.

SUPERBOOTH22 // 12.-14. May 22:

  • One-day Ticket                 35 EUR, discounted 25 EUR (THU, FRI, SAT)
  • Three-day Ticket              90 EUR, discounted 70 EUR (THU, FRI & SAT)

SOOPERgrail // 13. Und 14. May 2022:

  • One-day Ticket                 18 EUR, discounted 15 EUR (FRI or SAT)
  • Two-day Ticket                 30 EUR, discounted 25 EUR (FRI & SAT)

BeSOOPER – The SUPERBOOTH22 & SOOPERgrail Program

Under the common motto – BeSOOPER – SUPERBOOTH22 and the new SOOPERgrail bring together several thousand instrument makers, music and culture creators from all over the world in Berlin. For 3 days they will explain and discuss the future of music and music making at FEZ-Berlin. The event will create a meeting space that invites the exchange of
visions, ideas, sounds and stories.

The concert and cultural program starts every day around noon with Berlin students playing 12 modular synthesizers in the auditorium, it ends with a „Berliner Schule“ session in the foyer or a „Techno“ live set in the bungalow village before midnight. In between, there are up to twenty events and concerts daily at five venues in the spacious park area and FEZ-Berlin.
During the three days of SUPERBOOTH22 and the two days of SOOPERgrail, the at least 150 exhibitors of musical instruments are placed at three locations on the spacious grounds, also to make the sonic aesthetics of the products really tangible. The ticket system is simply structured, all tickets are valid for the whole day and all events of the fair.

Day 1

On the first day of the event, Mute Records founder Daniel Miller and Depeche Mode producer Gareth Jones will be performing on the Sea-Side Stage as Sunroof, as well as AtomTM as headliner. In the early evening, singer-songwriter Lisa Morgenstern will also play here, including a Rhodes Mk8. The latest model of the classic electric piano will also be on display in the space of the trade show.

In the auditorium, the Finnish keyboardist KEBU proofs that you can still make live electronic music with classical electronic keyboard instruments, some of which are decades old, even today. A talk with Peter Kirn and international guests is still in preparation for the evening.

Day 2

Friday the thirteenth is the first day of the guitar fair SOOPERgrail: Here it is also about visions that go far beyond ordinary remakes of American evergreens from Gibson to Fender. On the Guitar Stage at the Cinema, Matthias Grob tells his story from the development of the first guitar looper and its commercialization to today‘s hype, of which he as the „inventor“ unfortunately no longer benefits much. He shows his classic and builds a bridge to other colleagues with similar experiences.

For the upcoming generation, the daily Tapeloop workshops are a good introduction to this topic. Other guitarists as well as innovative exhibitors, also with guitars in the area between electronics and stringed instruments, make the fair a full-day program for interested and curious people.

The full program also runs on the other stages on Friday: Wayne Tailor, Mark Verbos, Julia Bondar and classic „Berlin School“ by Kontroll-Raum to close the day in the foyer. In the auditorium at 8 p.m., Hainbach, together with the Gebrüder Teichmann, will explain electronic music techniques of the past using the example of current cultural transformation between Germany and Japan on the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of the Goethe-Institut Tokyo.

Day 3

On Saturday, the workshops are often booked up the fastest, many musicians come with their children to enjoy the concerts and events and to learn something: In the guitar section, Sukandar Kartadinata explains his instrument with adjustable frets – the liberation from the twelve-tone scale. Schneider TM, among others, will be playing on the Guitar Stage. On the Sea-Side Stage St.Raumen alias T.Raumschmiere and St. John Mantle perform, in the Auditorium Peter Pichler shows the Mixturtrautonium during a workshop and plays a concert in the evening. The finale is provided by Martin Stürtzer on the keyboards in the foyer and the Dutch Maarten Vos with the Korean artist JS Park playing an incomparable techno set in the bungalow village.

All details regarding other concerts, (DIY) workshops, performances and events can be found on Superbooth.com and Soopergrail.com in the coming days.

And the Superbooth Berlin Team is announcing the following statement concerning the war in Ukraine:

“The war of aggression on Ukraine leaves us speechless. We sympathize and stand in solidarity with the suffering and struggling people in Ukraine and with the refugees who are being forced to leave their homes.
Our donation goes to CADUS e.V. which helps war refugees in Ukraine and worldwide. We would like to thank all those who do the same, if possible!”

Video: Maarten Vos – live at SUPERBOOTH21

The Dutch artist Maarten Vos played an incomparable set on the Seaside-Stage at SUPERBOOTH21. With the otherworldly Haken Continuum, a Buchla synthesizer and a Eurorack Modular System he took the audience a sonic journey.

Known as much for his outlier, exploratory approach to the cello as his work with modular synthesizers, he’s constantly exploring the boundaries of what can be done with certain instruments. His work is influenced by numerous collaborations with artists like Julianna Barwick, Stimming, Colin Benders and by excursions into other art forms, where he composed music for various disciplines, collaborated with fashion designers, visual artists and scored music for film.

Schneider TM & TB Arthur – live @SUPERBOOTH21

Dirk and Jay didn’t have their first appearance on a Superbooth stage, but this concert was the first one they performed on Deimel Firestar LesLee® Synchronizer guitars. These handmade guitars were being premiered in public for the first time at SUPERBOOTH21. The newly developed custom guitars made by Deimel Guitarworks allow for connectivity and interactivity via CV in/out on modular synths.

The LesLee guitar makes it possible to either send or receive a waveform or sending out a CV signal. It is even possible to do sync recording by using a CV to Midi generator, or to be in sync with video signals for performing artists – something that hasn’t been used in this performance, but opens up even more possibilities.

Schneider TM & TB Arthur brought modular synthesizers and guitar pedal effect boxes along with the aforementioned Deimel guitars to create sounds in unusual ways and explore new sonic territories.

Enjoy their unique performance merging two worlds of electronic sound that can also be seen as a preview to what the upcoming SOOPERgrail guitar show will be about.

See you at SUPERBOOTH22 and SOOPERgrail!

sooperRadio #7

sooperRADIO #7 – Thursday 5-7pm!

New year, new round. Again 8 weeks have passed, sooperRADIO is back on PiRadio, Radio Woltersdorf’s weekly slot in Berlin and Potsdam on 88.4 MHz or 90.7MHz. The seventh edition of the SUPERBOOTH Berlin radio show is about the upcoming 20th anniversary of Andreas Schneider’s idea: SUPERBOOTH.

Monolake aka Robert Henke, HerrSchneider and Andre Kaufmann talk about the history, the visions, the music and the current motivation. In the last twenty years, the world has changed a lot and with it the trade fairs for musical instruments – the guests on sooperRADIO look back at their first attempts to set new impulses for trade fairs. Together with M.E.S.I. from Paris, SchneidersBuero from Berlin designed a booth at the Frankfurt Music Fair in April 2002. Ten synthesizer manufacturers such as Big Briar (aka Moogmusic), Elektron, Doepfer, Vermona were represented at the excellent booth with a party-like atmosphere.

We look forward to HerrSchneider sharing memories like “Bob Moog and his secretary were on the dance floor while relevant artists from Berlin played live”.

LISTEN at http://piradio.de on Thursday, January, 20th, 2022 from 5pm ‘till 7pm.

Please note: The show will most probably be in German language.

Here are some pictures from the event 20 years ago:

Goodbye and Hello – with SchneidersLaden & Superbooth

A new level of Corona is approaching, the SchneidersLaden showroom is temporarily closed, but life goes on. Being busy behind closed doors describes the year 2021 pretty accurate for the SchneidersLaden team and it will be the same during the beginning of 2022. The team works hard processing orders, talking to customers on the phone or by email, and keeping up with all the new interesting developments in the field of electronic musical instruments.

A story of open doors was SUPERBOOTH21 – the new concept was a huge success and a wonderful time for everyone that was there. HerrSchneider talked about the return of Superbooth to FEZ-Berlin in the recent Steckblatt edition. Here is what he said:

So, Spring 22 should be great – again! SuperBooth21 is just two months over and it was wonderful: we‘ve learned a lot about how to run physical events in today‘s world with all safety aspects in mind, we‘ve paid all the bills and we‘re planning our next event even better now: it should be in May again, or later, … who knows. But it will remain the most important event for you and for us to drive our passion. We had fulfilled all safety regulations and now look back on all the outstanding concerts, lectures and presentations, as well as a number of products that were introduced during the „best SuperBooth ever“.

To give you a deeper impression, please read some comments and deeper insights in this issue #4 of our fanzine. Let‘s look back and focus: Let‘s work to be prepared, let‘s keep making music, what else? Looking back at the meetings we had, our Corona-safe virtual presentations, rainy gigs and wonderful parties at night in the Bungalowdorf – we will never forget this time and we look forward to repeating it all. Enjoy the sweet quiet of the cold winter season, isolate yourself as good as you can and please stay healthy … to hopefully see you again soon!

With warm regards, Andreas Schneider

From the Steckblatt Edition 21.4

And please remember SchneidersLaden being closed from 3rd to 5th of January 2022 for taking inventory.

sooperRADIO live – today 5-7pm!

Finally sooperRADIO again! The sixth and last show from the Superbooth makers this year. It’s about to start! The show runs from 5 to 7 pm live from the high security studio in Lottumstrasse. You can listen on PiRadio.de or in the Berlin radio on 88,4.

The guests in studio this time are Kai Roeske & Robert Siegel musically in operation as Kairostar. Synths, music and live update on SUPERBOOTH22 with HerrSchneider, there are first thoughts for 20 years of Superbooth in May 2022 and it is as always about sequences and sounds made of electricity.

Best to tune in directly at PiRadio.de

20 years of Superbooth – time for something new!

The successful SUPERBOOTH21 has shown how musical instrument trade fairs can work even during a pandemic. Due to the circumstances, the plan to establish a new guitar fair has been put on hold so far. This September, a handful of guitar makers have already presented themselves at SUPERBOOTH21. Next year, the time has finally come and SOOPERgrail22 will be organized as its own event, with separate access and also at the FEZ-Berlin.

The idea of “Superbooth” was already born 20 years ago and was cultivated in the first years in Frankfurt, with always new ideas, to an extraordinary, unusual trade fair concept. Six years have passed since the realization of an independent event in Berlin. During this time, a very personal and individual fair format has been established in the FEZ-Berlin. This development and the 20th anniversary will be celebrated on the eve of SUPERBOOTH22 with an exclusive evening event for our companions of the last 20 years.

As a special welcome for the new exhibitors from the guitar sector, a collective get-together for exhibitors and invited guests will be offered on the evening of 12. May – an opportunity to get to know each other, exchange ideas and meet again.

 2G instead of 3G*

The planning of SUPERBOOTH22 and SOOPERgrail22 is based on the current status of the official Covid regulations. For this reason, the organizers already point out that access to SUPERBOOTH22 and SOOPERgrail22 will most likely be bound to the 2G regulations.

This will allow for more indoor guests, the removal of time restrictions on indoor areas, and the prospect of possible reductions in mask requirements and minimum distances. A large number of exhibitors and visitors were already vaccinated or recovered this year (2G). In order not to exclude anyone completely, it is expected that non-2G compatible visitors will still be allowed to attend with a daily PCR test.

*The so-called 3G rule (public spaces are only open to those that are vaccinated, recovered, or tested – in german: geimpft, genesen, getestet)

Here are the dates for SUPERBOOTH22 and SOOPERgrail22:

  • SUPERBOOTH22:            12. – 14. May 2022
  • SOOPERgrail22:              13. – 14. May 2022

That is the short view into the future. But after 20 years of “Superbooth”, it’s also worth taking a look back.

Looking back

In 2002, during the Musikmesse in Frankfurt, a “Superbooth” took place for the first time as an ambitious group exhibition and with its own concert event. This was the starting point for everything that followed. Again and again we hear how people involved at that time become enthusiastic when they think back to the first Superbooth stands. The Superbooth concept stood out from the normal trade fair routine even back then, just like the Superbooth events today in Berlin.

“Many of the current participants such as Doepfer, (Bob) Moog, Elektron, Vermona, as well as currently involved artists like Monolake, Toktok and others are still connected to our events and activities and certainly like to celebrate with us. We are looking forward to the opportunity to celebrate such a long-lasting development with each other once again!”

HerrSchneider

To take HerrSchneider at his word, the Superbooth Berlin GmbH celebrates the round anniversary with a special event in the context of SUPERBOOTH22. On the eve of SUPERBOOTH22 – on 11.5.2022 from 7 pm – the organizers will hold an exclusive anniversary celebration with exhibitors and invited guests. All this will of course take place at FEZ-Berlin.

Preview

SOOPERgrail22

For the first time, SOOPERgrail22 will take place as a separately bookable, casual event for electric guitar manufacturers at FEZ-Berlin. The new event will be presented by Superbooth Berlin GmbH on two days, 13.-14. May 2022, as part of SUPERBOOTH22.

Exhibitors will showcase a selection of custom-made European electric and bass guitars in a separate area of the building around the K1 concert hall, in nearby rooms, on the Cinema presentation stage and in the open meeting areas.

A variety of presentations and concerts await guests at SUPERBOOTH22 and SOOPERgrail22 on several stages, as well as a large, shared outdoor area for both events with the popular catering options.

SUPERBOOTH22

SUPERBOOTH22 will again be an open and broad experience at FEZ-Berlin. There will be up to 200 exhibitors and plenty of space and fresh air around the Seaside Stage (Seebühne) and in the park. The Hüttendorf and the Fuchsbau will also be integrated into the program again. Both are in close distance and offer a very unique atmosphere due to their location, which complement the event perfectly.

Concerts and performances will take place on a total of four stages indoors and outdoors. Those who want to do more than just look and try things out can create something of their own in different DIY-workshops and take it home with them. School classes and other children can try out the numerous, age-appropriate workshops and approach the topics of music creation and sound exploration with some guidance. The exhibition can be visited daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the stage program continues into the evening. All those at home can keep their eyes and ears glued to the livestream and the trade fair radio.

This was SUPERBOOTH21 – See you at SUPERBOOTH22

We all had to wait a long time for SUPERBOOTH21, now the event is over and it was a complete success. The circumstances that forced the organizers to completely rethink have made this year’s SUPERBOOTH21 better. The exhibitors have used the last months to develop many exciting novelties. The spacious area, the airier rooms and the resulting much more relaxed atmosphere, gave the exhibitors and visitors more opportunity to engage in conversation and to test and experience the exhibited instruments in a meaningful way.

Many participants reported that the quality of the discussions among each other was once again better than in previous years. This was made possible by the 126 exhibitors present this year, whom the organizers would like to thank once again. Another important element in this year’s concept was the cooperation with the Miller-Zillmer Foundation, to whom the organizers would also like to express their sincere thanks. The Miller-Zillmer Foundation made it possible to bring the wonderful artists Yann Tiersen, hackedepicciotto, JakoJako, Pole and the Modular Synthesizer Ensemble to the stage.

Andre Kaufmann: “Our little adventure trip is over for this year – 4 days with quite a few moments of joy, passion and excitement. We hope everyone had a great time meeting colleagues, friends and making many new contacts. It was a very memorable event, maybe the special circumstances made us even more connected.”

The start was perhaps a bit bumpy, with decent rain from Wednesday afternoon, but this was compensated for in the following days by the mild late summer with some sunshine hours and pleasant temperatures. The bungalow village had a wonderful homely atmosphere, in the evenings the Tresorbühne spread festival and club feeling and the famous Japanese pancakes and vegan gyros were again the right basis for long days and short nights.

The success of the newly designed event prompted Andreas Schneider to announce in his closing words after the last concert on the seaside stage on Saturday evening that he intends to keep this concept for SUPERBOOTH22. So you can look forward to another Superbooth that manages to be exciting and relaxed at the same time. One of the best news remains with regards to the first September edition of Superbooth that SUPERBOOTH22 is only 8 months away!

The preparations for SUPERBOOTH22 are already about to begin. The next edition of Superbooth will then take place at FEZ-Berlin from May 12-14, 2022, this time in conjunction with sooperGRAIL, which is dedicated to the art of guitar building.

For the perfect review of concerts and interviews with guests like Jean-Michel Jarre and T.Raumschmiere, talk concerts with Metasonix, Modor, UDO Audio, Joranalogue, Erica Synths, Meng-Qi and many more, there are plenty of videos on the official Superbooth Vimeo and YouTube accounts, as well as on the Superbooth homepage.

  • SUPERBOOTH22 12. – 14. Mai 2022

Here is one fine example of a Gesprächskonzert:

u-he – Wiretap Gesprächskonzert (lecture concert) @SUPERBOOTH21

For this Gesprächskonzert Urs Heckmann, founder of Berlin based company u-he, teamed up with Sebastian Hübert for their performance and presentation at Fuchsbau during SUPERBOOTH21. The former one-man show u-he is now a tightly knit team of employees, active associates and 3rd-party contractors – with ambitious plans.

Famous for very accurate and widely appreciated software synthesizers and effects, u-he showed their first eurorack module at a previous edition of Superbooth – the CVilisation. At SUPERBOOTH21 it was time for another announcement. They took the chance to present their latest development with a Gesprächskonzert, of which you can find the video documentation below. The module is named Wiretap and it played a major role in creating rhythm during their performance.

Wiretap is a double gate extractor for v/oct signals. It will generate a gate when the voltage goes high, when it goes low, when it’s steady, when it moves, when it’s higher than the other one and when it’s lower. And you can set the gate length and get additional envelope outputs.

SchneidersLaden presents SUPERBOOTH21

SUPERBOOTH21 starting tomorrow – this is important to know

We are all very excited about the start of SUPERBOOTH21 – tomorrow it finally starts! Holding a trade fair and festival under the given circumstances requires a little more planning and consideration for each other. To make the event as safe as currently possible, the organizers have developed a consistent hygiene concept – but it also requires responsible interaction with each other.

There will be a Covid-19 test center in front of the FEZ-Berlin where all attendees can get tested for free. Those who can be tested before departure, perhaps in the hotel or on the way, should do so in order to keep waiting times on site to a minimum.
The status check, whether someone is vaccinated, recovered or tested negative, will then be checked at the main entrance. Because this can take longer, this procedure starts at 9 am already. Because the exhibition doesn’t start until 10 am, there will be an opportunity to get a good coffee from Johanna and a chance to listen to the morning improvisation on the seaside stage by Charles Matuschewski.

And then it’s on! From 10am, depending on which ticket you’ve chosen, you can explore the indoor or outdoor exhibitors – there have been some very interesting announcements in advance. Throughout the day there will be concerts and workshops and in the evening the Talks.

HerrSchneider has summarized the ideas for the evening events in the auditorium here:

We will have some main themes and topics during the evening talks, the first one is – Education! This is where the Miller-Zillmer Foundation helps us to realize Gammons daily workshops with a full school class. Thursday sooperRADIO #3 with Andreas Schneider

It’s already time for the third episode of sooperRADIO! The radio show of the Superbooth Berlin team goes into its third broadcast on Thursday at 5pm. This time host Andre Kaufmann will talk with Andreas Schneider about everything related to synthesizers and of course about this year’s SUPERBBOTH21! Probably they will talk in German most of the time, keep that in mind, but anyway -> tune in!

You can listen to the show on 88.4 MHz in Berlin, 90.7 MHz in Potsdam or via the Livestream at Pi Radio.

If you have missed the first two episodes, you can find them here.

SUPERBOOTH interviewed

Recently Cornelius Wildner & Erka Shalari reached out to Berlin to interview Andreas Schneider and Andre Kaufmann as heads of Superbooth for “LES NOUVEAUX RICHES” – an art and culture magazine based over in Vienna. Talking about how it all came to live the interview rolls out the historic back ground of the event which is certainly more than just a fair for traders and draws a fine lined picture of the current situation.

sooperRADIO #2 going live 5pm this Thursday

The Superbooth team is back with a new episode of their sooperRADIO show, after an eight-week wait. It is and remains electronic, with talks about modular systhesizers, a technical look at reverb simulation and two very likable studio guests: JakoJako and Sam Barker, with their very own approaches to making music – which we of course want to listen to again.

Plus two news about the synthesizer fair, with Mareen and André in the studio. They’ll let you know about the latest developments in the planning of this years Superbooth show – September 15-18th.

Via this link you can find the first episode, in case you missed it, or want to listen again – sooperRADIO episode 1.

And here is the direct link to the radio show for Thursday – Radio Woltersdorf.

SUPERBOOTH pandemic fit (video)

Superbooth Berlin was one of the first teams that organized a virtual meeting on the web during the pandemic: The inventors of Berlin based „SUPERBOOTH“ synth show presented a „home edition“ in April 2020 already.

In this video Andre Kaufmann and Andreas Schneider (CEOs of Superbooth Berlin) sat down in SchneidersLaden to comment on their impressions of the latest and by far biggest virtual show – this years NAMM. Hear about their vision for a tradeshow in 2021 and their ideas for Superbooth that is supposed to happen in May.

While the original live stream didn’t get through to the NAMM website for some technical reasons, this is the spontaneous and improvised version of the planned event.

For NAMMs “Believe TV” Superbooth also made a nice video piece of about 30 minutes introducing a part of our community with three artists using modulars Sasha Ketterlin (FR), JakoJako (DE), Gammon (AT).

The full video called “Berlin, Vienna, Paris calling!” is still available on the NAMM site (registration needed) for a little while (before set public on media).

Apart from that our exhibiting friends, brands and partners offered more than ten more videos and movies around their products and visions, that you can find on the virtual stand, still public (for free) here.

Update: SUPERBOOTH20 had to be cancelled – New date: 6.-8. May 2021

Respecting the current situation this years SUPERBOOTH2020 is officially cancelled. The organizers were already able to talk to the venue and to find a new date: May 6th til 8th, 2021 in the wonderful FEZ Berlin again.

Superbooth Berlin expresses its thanks to the exhibiting partners and companies for their trust and for demonstrating solidarity, for offering their financial support now to let Superbooth “survive” this complicated situation. Andreas Schneider states: “Without this we could have run into real problems with this cancellation, thank you again. Also we would like to say thank you to all the Artists, active Partners, Suppliers and the whole staff team for their support already until now. We are very sorry, we had to go this way now. Asap we will get in touch with you to clear up the final settings and start planning 2021 soon.”

HerrSchneider is not resting, he is already planning some workshops online in the days where SUPERBOOTH20 could have happened once the situation will allow that, definitely without any audience.

And there are more news by HerrSchneider: “Starting now SchneidersLaden will be closed for visitors, cause who needs modulars? We will go ahead online, will help you on the phone and will deliver as long as stock lasts and as long as the Paketfritzen will ship it to you, who knows whats next?”

We are already looking forward to 2021 when we can all meet again at the worlds biggest synthesizer event – Superbooth Berlin.

This was the original SUPERBOOTH20 announcement:

SUPERBOOTH20 will show all the latest developments in the fields of electronic musical instruments, synthesizers, audio effects, drum computers, music software and all sorts of bizarre and innovative products from April 23-25. About two hundred exhibitors from all over the world will bring the latest developments for the production of electronic music to Berlin.

Most of the exhibitors of the last few years are also represented at the fair this year, the list ranges from Ableton to Zoom, from small to large and from analog to digital. Visitors can also look forward to seeing new faces. Among the newcomers are Noise Engineering and Supercritical Synthesizers from the modular synthesizer segment, Chase Bliss from the guitar effects segment and Bettermaker from the outboard segment and many more. For the exhibitor area additional space has been rented in the FEZ Berlin. A daily updated list of exhibitors can be found here. There are also new event areas in the outdoor area, especially for not-for-sale electronic musical instruments and installations – curated by Adam Chalk from the Galerie GH36 in Berlin Mitte.

Program

You can already get an impression of the final concert program by looking at the artists who have already been confirmed. Four large stages offer an exciting mixture of the whole range of electronic music until late in the evening. A special experience is provided by the seaside stage, which will be equipped with a 3D sound system from NewAudioTechnology this year. One of the best theremin players in the world – Carolina Eyck – will be demonstrating her skills on it.

  • The first day promises to be a great experience already – with an experimental set by Headless Horseman, followed by the concert of the British EBM band Nitzer Ebb on the seaside stage.  At the end of the day Techno veteran Surgeon will play in the big K1. Also already confirmed is a performance by Emika – she combines her skills as sound designer, classically trained composer and versatile singer and songwriter.
  • On Friday the seaside stage will be very lively with T.Raumschmiere & FuCKetYbUcKetY. Also on the seaside stage Cosmin TRG shows his skills. Besides further concerts of Nguyễn + Transitory and Kamikaze Space Programme Bernard Rasinger shows an extraordinary laser performance – controlled by his modular system.
  • On Saturday, MATTHS will play (slightly) quieter tunes on the seaside stage, before Lady Starlight performs uncompromising techno. Not to be missed is the A/V show of hackedepicciotto with Alexander Hacke (Einstürzende Neubauten) & Danielle de Picciotto and the concerts of Swarm Intelligence and Kitmun.

This is just a small selection of this year’s concerts at SUPERBOOTH20. On the official homepage new names and times are added constantly, you can find them here.

Education Program

The Education area offers a varied program that brings several school classes and other interested participants closer to the world of electronic sound production and composition. This area is supported by the Miller-Zillmer Foundation.

Gammons Modular Synthesizer Ensemble introduces students to the topic with a dozen smaller modular systems. Together they develop a composition that the school classes perform daily between 1:30 and 2:00 pm in the auditorium. In addition, Leaf Audio offer a workshop on soldering the Microphonic Soundbox. The team of Selbstgebaute Musik invites for a workshop with the Instrumentenautomatenorchester. And the organizers are also pleased to announce the cooperation with the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, who will offer the workshop Creative Sound Safari.

Boat shuttle

The boat shuttles take the passengers to the FEZ in the morning and back to Berlin Mitte in the evening after the event. But by leaving SUPERBOOTH20 the music doesn’t have to stop yet – for the return trips to Berlin Mitte there are concerts and DJ sets on some of the boat shuttles. In order to experience these exclusive events on the river Spree, it is recommended to book your ticket online in time.

The return trips end near the Jannowitzbrücke. From there it is only a few minutes’ walk to the nearby official SUPERBOOTH20 parties at OHM, Melancholie 2 or C-Base.

SUPERBOOTH20 now has its own online shop: In addition to the intended significant simplification in purchasing additional trade fair services, there are already some of the popular T-shirts and other merchandise available: shop.superbooth.com

Pictures from last year’s event can be found here: SUPERBOOTH19

A large part of the video documentation of our concerts and events from previous years can be found here: Vimeo or Youtube.

Superbooth statement on Corona

Here is the official statement by Superbooth Berlin GmbH about the current situation regarding the Coronavirus:

Due to the current situation in the world regarding the Coronavirus, we were asked to state our point of view about this topic. With SUPERBOOTH20 starting in about 8 weeks from now, we prefer to rely on facts rather than speculations about the future.

Please check Robert Koch Institute in Berlin for further information (German/English):
https://www.rki.de/DE/Content/InfAZ/N/Neuartiges_Coronavirus/nCoV.html

Without any carelessness about health or risks, we basically are very careful with the daily news spreading and panic producing sensational reports.

We are observing the development, but can not say how the situation will change in the coming weeks. If we have the impression that we should act in any way, we will do so. By now we can only say, the situation in Berlin is safe and we do not want to be part of any speculations.

As long as there is no official ban by the authorities, we have decided to keep on working on the finalization of this year’s Superbooth.

Relax and make music! See you at SUPERBOOTH20!

This seems to be the way to go – why lapse into actionism now? The the situation will change during the coming weeks. Lets focus on a new and exciting edition of Superbooth Berlin! The program looks even more promising than in the years before! See yout FEZ Berlin from 23.-25. of April!

New visitor record at SUPERBOOTH19

From Thursday to Saturday more than 7500 visitors came to the FEZ Berlin to celebrate electronic musical instruments and pretty much everything you can do with them. With that, SUPERBOOTH19 increased the previous record of last year. Even though nobody counted the newly introduced products, this number seems to be a record as well.

Organizer Andreas Schneider is pleased about the successful event and “especially about the fact that so many long-time companions were there again – Daniel Miller, Mark Ernestus, Dieter Doepfer, Dave Smith, Richie Hawtin. Also Mark Reeder, Matt Johnson from The The, and Ian Tregoning were there.” Well over 100 concerts and performances during three days, countless demonstrations by about 250 exhibitors and numerous workshops created a unique atmosphere in the FEZ Berlin and its outdoor area.

The weather was less sunny than last year, but the outdoor and exhibition area were still heavily frequented by visitors. After the first concert on the seaside stage on Thursday, the heaviest downpour was already over and there was a lot of music and celebrating.
Not only at the event itself there was music, but also on some of the boat shuttles that commuted between Berlin Mitte and FEZ. And the passengers had put on their dancing shoes while traveling on the river Spree – especially during the sets by Dr. Motte and CYRK.

Jean-Michel Jarre said on his first visit to Superbooth Berlin that anyone who had anything to do with synthesizers should come to Superbooth. “It’s absolutely amazing. It’s not just another fair – it’s an experience, a human experience, a musical experience, it’s flabbergasting!”

There is not much more to add, except: The organizers and the team would like to thank all exhibitors, artists and guests who made SUPERBOOTH19 what it is. All those who want to follow Jean-Michel Jarre’s advice should already mark three days in April 2020 in the calendar, SUPERBOOTH20 will take place from 23-25 April 2020 again in the FEZ Berlin.

And those who missed the chance to buy a T-shirt at the fair can do so from next week at SchneidersLaden.

The boat shuttle will have different times and a lower capacity this year. Because the jetty that we have used in recent years has been sold, there has been planning uncertainty about the boat shuttle to the end. All alternative jetties were unsuitable for the large boats we have used in the last few years. This year we are using much smaller boats – so we have to organize the access to the boats somehow. That’s why “priority boarding” tickets will now regulate access. If you buy a ticket, you will surely get on the boat – people without a ticket can use the rest of the seats.

From Mitte to SUPERBOOTH19

Departures: 8:20 am, 11:20 am, 4:20 pm

Find the jetty at “Historischer Hafen“, next to the “Roßstraßenbrücke“ – just a few hundred meters from the jetty we used to use. The shuttles are free but the boats have a limited capacity of 50 persons so we recommend you to buy a ticket for 5 € in our ticket shop. Ticketholders have priority during the boarding.

From SUPERBOOTH19 to Mitte

Departures: 7:20 pm, 9:50 pm and at 0:30 am (including Bier and Würstchen!)

You can find the jetty at Weiskopffstraße 16, 12459 Berlin ( for your way back to town). The shuttles are free but the boats have a limited capacity of 50 persons so we recommend you to buy a ticket for 5 € in our ticket shop for the 7:20 boat. Ticketholders have priority during the boarding.

The price for the DJ-boat for priority boarding at 9:50 pm is 10 €. Thursday with jesusonecstasy Friday with Dr. Motte – Saturday with Alex from WMD.

The price for the DJ-boat for priority boarding at 0:30 pm is 15 €. Thursday with D. MillerFriday with Mark ReederSaturday with t.b.c.

TICKETS will be available through the official online shop. Find them here

THURSDAY: Haken Audio & La Voix du Luthier – Onde // Workshop at SchneidersLaden

Learn about the history and development of one of the most expressive and versatile electronic music instruments around! The Haken Continuum Fingerboard has been around for several years and is still being developed further and further. The heart of this unique instrument is a digital EaganMatrix – based on the principles of the patch-matrix of synthesizers like Arp 2500 and EMS Synthi 100. And it gets its expressiveness from the incomparable surface that acts as the user interface and offers realtime continuous control in three dimensions for every finger that is placed on the playing surface! As well as presenting the Continuum there will be a very rare chance to hear the La Voix du Luthier Onde! With this exceptional approach to the construction of a speaker, the sound directly comes from the vibrations of the 2 soundboards. There is no traditional speaker cone inside, only acoustic exciters transmitting the vibration into the wood. It is the same principle as for a guitar: the strings themselves make very little sound, but they are transmitting their vibrations to the soundboard through the bridge, and what you hear is the sonic amplification via the soundboard. In case of the Onde the exciter is acting as the bridge and transmits the electric “vibrations” to the wood. The Onde gives you a very dispersive and immersive sound and the chance to experience electronic sound sources in a totally new way. This incredible sound can hardly be recorded – so make sure to come to the workshop to get an accurate impression of the Onde!

No registration needed, the event is free.

THURSDAY – March 14th – 7.30pm @SchneidersLaden
// right after our weekly Modular Beginner Workshop at 6pm

Get your discounted tickets for SUPERBOOTH19 now!

The pre-sale for SUPERBOOTH19 has started. Until the end of December you can get the Early Bird tickets for SUPERBOOTH19 at a special price. The international trade fair for electronic musical instruments expects 250 exhibitors from all over the world. The fact that the annual event is more than just an ordinary trade fair has been proven again and again. From 9-11 May there will be dozens of concerts, workshops and presentations every day in the FEZ Berlin.

Electronic music and Berlin – that fits. SUPERBOOTH19 once again puts electronic sound generation at the center of the world’s largest trade fair of its kind. The trade fair has thus become a real highlight, both in Berlin’s calendar of events and in international perception, which not only excites the exhibiting companies.

For many exhibitors and guests the way to SUPERBOOTH19 leads via the free boat shuttle from Berlin-Mitte. This makes the journey to the FEZ Berlin, which is located a little outside the city, a city tour on the water and very easy. Here is also the first opportunity to have a chat and make contacts.

Organizer Andreas Schneider is delighted about the great response from all sides and the many exhibitor enquiries for SUPERBOOTH19: “Of the exhibitors from this year, 80% have already confirmed their renewed participation. Therefore we are also looking for new exhibition space in the FEZ Berlin to confirm the still open inquiries of new exhibitors and to accommodate the expected 8000 guests”.

There is more news from the organizers: The media coverage at SUPERBOOTH19 is to be democratized. In order to allow the exhibitors an undisturbed set-up and to give the arriving media equal opportunities in their reporting, a general camera ban will apply on the set-up days of the fair. Thus small and large media should have the same chances to discover the news of the fair on the opening day during the trade visitor time. Andreas Schneider says that “small and large media should have the same chances to discover new things here, that’s why we have always had the trade visitor time”. This compensatory approach is also reflected in other aspects of the trade fair – e.g. in the selection and positioning of the exhibitors, through which large and small manufacturers are presented equally side by side.

Kreisferkeer Flaake – live @SUPERBOOTH18

Live electronic music by Kreisferkeer Flaake at SUPERBOOTH18 on May the 4th 2018 – improvised for this evening and for this place.

All Kreisferkeer Flaake performances are improvisations – That’s why the music is different each and every time, oscillating somewhere between Dancefloor, Ambient and Experimental. No tricks, no props, no safety net, instead music and sounds are created on the spot and just for the moment. What you hear is what you get: three humans with their electronic sound machines – and no computers.

Max Loderbauer & Tobias Freund as NSI @SUPERBOOTH18

Max Loderbauer and Tobias Freund have been producing and playing under the name NSI for years. Finally on Superbooth18 they played this great set with not one of their countless modulars on stage, creating wonderful atmospheres for the seated audience. As all other concerts at SUPERBOOTH18 this performance has been documented. Watch the complete concert here:

Islaja on the sunny Seaside Stage @SUPERBOOTH18

Islajas hypnotic, beautiful music on the Seaside Stage during SUPERBOOTH18. Islaja is Merja Kokkonen: a composer, performer and recording artist based in Berlin, Germany. Since her debut in 2004, she has released several albums on Finland’s Fonal Recordsan and other labels. The most recent album Tarrantulla came out on Svart Records in December 2017.
She earned quick praise in the international music press for her unique vocal style and daring DIY approach to music composition – which you can hear on this video recording. d’Voxx – live concert @SUPERBROOTH18

d’Voxx is a live electronic music project using only modular instruments for live performances, they explore the post-digital landscape working within the constraints of an analogue domain. In May 2018 they played an atmospheric live show at SUPERBOOTH18. d’Voxx reject the notion of preservation for a more transitory paradigm. Seeking to explore the space between live performance and recorded artifact, and through their recordings they document the collaborative progress of the artist, and the new modular instrument.

No laptops, no MIDI and no samplers – just pure voltage control. d’Voxx performed in the legendary Funkhaus studios as part of the ColdWaves project at the Music Tech Fest Berlin and have performed at electronic music events throughout the UK since their founding in April 2016. In addition to the performance of live music sets, d’Voxx also offers seminars and workshops on modular synthesis and electronic music production.

The following video shows the concert that d’Voxx played in K1 Hall at SUPERBOOTH18:

Silent film score by Gebrüder Teichmann and Mathis Mayr – THE BLOOD OF A POET @SUPERBOOTH18

The brothers Andi and Hannes Teichmann – Live-Electronic and Processing (NOLAND) and Mathis Mayr – Cello (Ensemble Mosaik) played a live film scoring for the silent film “The blood of a dead poet” at SUPERBOOTH18 – of cause with synthesizers. The avant-garde film is a production from the year 1930 and was directed by Jean Cocteau.

Mathis Mayr, born 1972, has been a member of the Ensemble Mosaik since 2008. He studied cello with Uzi Wiesel in Sydney/Australia and at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich. Other areas of interest include experimental electronic music, historical performance practice and micro-tonal music. Andi and Hannes Teichmann as musicians, DJs, label makers and cultural activists have been an integral part of Berlin’s techno underground since the late 1990s. During this period, they have also experienced Berlin’s transition from a subcultural oasis to a global brand. But they have never been interested in the commercial aspect of club culture: The sons of a multi-instrumentalist influenced the DIY culture of the early scene with their constant search for diversity and the playful desire for improvisation and transformation. In addition to music, as project initiators and organizers with the Goethe Institute, they developed the much-noted Africa Europe projects Berlin – Nairobi BLNRB and the follow-up project TEN CITIES. Their label NOLAND, founded in 2015, bundles this path of the last 10 years from the underground to the interground.

Joke Lanz and Thomas Rehnert @SUPERBOOTH18

The duo combines acoustic drums, analog modular systems, video synthesizers and turntables in an improvisational live performance that includes noise, drone, hardcore and free jazz elements. Their music is characterized by the interweaving of electroacoustic and purely acoustic sounds, the direct interaction of the musicians and the often surprising results. The third protagonist is a self-controlled modular system that provides sound and visual impulses and contexts for the musicians. In particular, the turntablist Lanz’s playing is characterized by his virtuoso and nuacen-rich use of cuts, vinyl switches, scratches, volume and speed modulations. Rehnert’s drumming, on the other hand, combines gestural and textural playing with analog synthesized sound, which is created by a complex network of interconnected modules in which sound, video and control signals are transformed and influenced.

Blotter Trax and Lillevan -> concert @SUPERBOOTH18

What a successful completion of the first SUPERBOOTH18 day!

One of the big highlights of this year’s event was the performance by Blotter Trax (Magda & T.B. Arthur) together with Lillevan who made the visuals for this show. As headliners of the first day of Superbooth this year the artists have successfully made everyone dance – after 12 hours of trade fair show!

The inspiring symbiosis of visuals, sound and especially the hypnotic use of vocal samples by these outstanding artists took the dancing guests to a different world and ultimately transformed the trade fair into a festival for electronic music.

About the interaction between humans and machines – SOOPERtalk @SUPERBOOTH18

The first panel discussion this year reflected the interaction between humans and machines in the process of music-making. Mylar Melodies moderated the talk with very special guests – Lady Starlight, Katia Isakoff, Lady Blacktronika and Andrew Huang.

They gave us an insight into their personal experiences with various instruments and tools with which they play, produce or make music themselves.
The relationship that artists build up with their instruments can have a strong influence on creativity and the workflow. This discussion is also about which aspects of the instruments inspire, promote or perhaps even disturb the artists.

SchneidersLaden NEWS

Radek Rudnicki’s presentation of AJH Synth modules @SUPERBOOTH17

AJH Synth are a UK based manufacturer of Eurorack modules, specialised in handmade vintage analogue designs. The MiniMod system is a range of analogue modules that very accurately recreate the early Moog Model D synthesiser in Eurorack modular format, with further modules now available to expand it into a fully featured modular synthesiser. And they even have some unique designs like the Sonic XV Filter, Ring SM ring modulator/sub bass/mixer and the Finaliser R-EQ. Here you can hear some experimental sounds from the classy AJH Synth eurorack module line. This is a short excerpt from Radek Rudnicki’s AJH Synth Gesprächskonzert at SUPERBOOTH17.

You can get an impression of this quality line of modules at AJH Synth’s Booth E150 during SUPERBOOTH18.

Jürgen Michaelis of Jomox @ Schneidersbüro

Juergen Michaelis – the head of JoMoX Berlin – giving insights of the history with HerrSchneider once entering the world of synths and drummachines roundabout 20 years ago to help Jürgen as a sales rep, after they met each other in a totally different world. Introducing the wonderful concert of Panic Girl and Jericho on Superbooth17 and showing the gig of Juergen himself with his AKASHA synth on Superbooth16.

And also – the live introduction of the ALPHA BASE by the inventor himself, is showing the fun he has with his own baby – it is passion. Jürgen Michaelis is building the famous Jomox drum machines for almost twenty years. The Alpha Base came out this year and it is the most advanced drum machine built by Jomox so far. The almighty kick drum is once again the backbone of this instrument and it is supplemented with the analog percussion voice you might know from the M.Brane machines Jomox is building. With the additional sample based instruments and a FM synthesizer bult into the Alpha Base, this is a pretty complete machine that will find lots of use in studios and on stages around the world.

Ondomo Gesprächskonzert at SUPERBOOTH17

This week we have the Gesprächskonzert by Ondomo for you, a very nice overview and performance. The Ondomo is a unique instrument originally invented in France in the late 1920s. It was known under the name ‘Ondes-Martenot’ and invented by Maurice Martenot. Ondomo is the reincarnation of this instrument.

It features a timbre section that is played by the left hand, as well as the volume. The right hand either plays the keyboard with its physical capability for performing vibrato, or by sliding a metal ring worn on your finger in front of the keyboard. The position of the ring determines the pitch. This method of playing makes it possible to create continuous, sweeping sounds reminiscent of the sound of a Theremin.

The limited run of 100 instruments which inventor Naoyuki Omo has committed to build has already been depleted. But there are plans to build another batch. For more information please visit their website or subscribe to the official Ondomo Newsletter.

Eventide @SUPERBOOTH17

Eventide presented a prototype of a eurorack delay at SUPERBOOTH17. Scince then it hasn’t been seen in the wild but we are looking forward to what promises to be superb eurorack effects modules. The Eventide Gesprächskonzert can be watched below. The video features some words about the C-Base in Berlin, the Karusell-Synthesizer by Schneidersbuero and SUPERBOOTH18. The introductory part gives you an insight of the C-Base, what has already been another a stage for artists like Robert Aiki Lowe and Dieter Doepfer this year, and will be again with SUPERBOOTH18 – as our official aftershow venue. The modular furniture (Karussel) seen here will be available in Munich now for the DigitalAnalog Festival, please search the web for further updates and come back next week.

KORG Performance @ SUPERBOOTH17

One of the uncounted real synth concerts and a really smart performance on SUPERBOOTH17 was the Gespraechskonzert  for Korg and Arp in the Cinema (open this link to find their complete 2016-performance, too).
Jörg Sunderkötter – Sound&Recording’s earlier chief editor, on keyboards – and his studio partner Joker Nies – an expert for circuit bending – had some problems to find on stage but then it became like this .. turn it on to listen yourselves, please.

The hondes Martenot ..

photo1-881b4324the french invention of the hondes martenot led into plenty of classical compositions for an early electronic musical instrument that is still 50 years later needed quite often nowadays for concerts. So owners of those few units that still work fine are often booked. For all others now there is hope from Japan, where Ondomo is producing a fine remake looking like something nearer to the original compared with the available french connection by Analogue Systems or Doepfers very affordable solution called R2M/A-189. Check this out on a date in their room Orbitall on the upcoming Superbooth soon.

Skinnerbox @ SUPERBOOTH ..

endorphines_shuttleSkinnerbox will play a so called Gesprächskonzert on SUPERBOOTH17-Saturday afternoon 5pm in the theatre hall for endorphin.es. Probably Skinnerbox will perform on one of their first complete shuttles, now – here you can find their last years details.

.. btw. 13 DIY-Workshops will be held during superbooth with limited places available (now online). Soldering icons and everything else will be there, you just need to book your place now and arrive in time, there is plenty of time left for the rest of the show if you will be in town for more than one day (!). Look here.

DIY workshops now online

bom_gpa-c6c6db14During SUPERBOOTH17 there will be up to six DoItYouselves-Workshops available every day for a limited number of participants – who would like to understand how to solder such little wonders yourself. You do not even need a ticket to enter the show but you have to book the kit including a place with a soldering icon and help for a certain day in advance, places are limited.  A list with all available options can be found here now.

NAMM 17 .. OVER ..

975_1325so .. lets make europe even greater then, ..
or what was it all about?

NAMM 2017 is over now, there is still plenty of news to be released here so stay tuned, please.

We all will hopefully meet again on the upcoming SUPERBOOTH17 in april at FEZ-Berlin to see how great the USA became in between. I wish us all the best not just for this but first of all lets try even harder to keep some peace in the world here and there.
