Performing with a clock – SND ACME4 workshop @SchneidersLaden

A few weeks ago SchneidersLaden hosted a workshop for a machine HerrSchneider frequently uses in his own musical installations. This evening it was all about trusty clocks, with the SND ACME4. It can be described as an ultra-stable and versatile clock management system. It gives you a multitude of options to optimize the timing of your musical instruments while they are playing together. Four channels with different combinations of MIDI-, DIN-Sync- and analog outputs feature swing parameters, shift and much more. But the most important thing is the very reliable timing of this machine.

Tom Körting talks about his own experiences with the ACME4 and shows that a machine for clock management can be used very hands-on and that it offers some very musical performance features.

May 31st // Workshop Night @Schneidersladen // It’s all about timing: Clock Management! // +Beginner Workshop

On Thursday 31st of May at 6pm we will start an evening full of new experiences and opportunities to learn new things!

  1. We start at 6pm with an introduction to modular synthesis that is suitable for beginners and for all those who are curious about sound synthesis. Everyone is welcome to join us, no previous knowledge required!
  2. At 7pm we are having a closer look at timing. We have invited Tom Körting to show us one of the tightest and most advanced clocks for music making. The ACME-4 by SND has been on the market for quit some time now and it is still one of the most reliable machines to manage your timing in the the studio or on stage. Tight and reliable timing can make a difference and support your musical ideas. Although we are nerds, things won’t get too technical – the workshop will give you real live examples

To get an idea of what to expect, have a look at the videos from previous workshops!

Participation is free-of-charge as always!
Looking forward to see you there!!! The SchneidersLaden showroom team

SND prices

snd_fb14s_mThe price for a Filterbank FB14 by SND had to be increased unfortunately now. The monofilterbank is selling for 999 EUR inc VAT from now on.
The stereo variation
with the unique frequency panorama function is out of production anyway, but still one very last model is in stock selling for just 1790 EUR probably soon.  The very last few units of their prominent Sequencer SAM16 are probably sold out these days, too.

Check me, i am ACME!

sndac4_sACME4 out of SND’s working space, know to supply up to 4(!) midi/din sync/trigger clock recipients with rock steady clock has arrived to stock again.

It may apply different shuffle depths and track-individual time shift back and forth on the master timeline to each output track.
12 shuffle patterns are selectable and track speed may be varied between normal, half and double. synced to master clock. also tracks may be stopped and released again.

All of this with dedicated knobs, no menus.

And last but not least: it works regardless of a computer to supply it again with a clock, if you want it to. so in short words, it is the electronic musicians most reliable friend!

Chuck Noisebug Jr..

moonmodularThe booth of Noisebug alias Chuck Oken jr. was the third adress on NAMM that was a must see for us (and you?) this year. They have been showing the stuff of Don Buchla and associates again together with, Vermona, the brilliant modules by Moon Modular and more. Noisebug is running a real showroom at the earlier Analogue Heaven adress in addition to the usual onlineshop. After they now show again some outstanding good units including bigger modular stuff (5 rackspace) they probably found their place in this US competition of three retailers in the same area and range.

sound processing?

Apart from the Fucifier by Evolaudio, that could top your christmas tree in lightning – it is an unbelievable distortion/filter unit b.t.w. – there are several more new products in Schneidersladen processing stereo signals now: The track thickener and the iotine core by NIIO analog make their names program, The SND FB14S and a brilliant new compressor unit by an engineer from the neighborhood are connected to be heard and mostly available from stock right now. Youre welcome.
