"We are very happy to announce a workshop with Marcel Belmans from Modor! The Belgian manufacturer of digital hardware synthesizers and drum machines visits us on the 25th of July - 7pm.

We will have a closer look at the NF-1 and DR-2 – two mighty instruments with a unique sound and great playability. Both machines are available for quite some time now, but received some great firmware updates in the past with lots of new functions. So it is overdue to explore both in more detail. Modors approach to built synthesizers and drum machines is focused on digital synthesis. Their machines are meant to be hands-on hardware instruments that are both innovative and intuitive.

The NF-1 is an eight-voice polyphonic synthesizer with a classic structure, but this white beast is far more versatile than a virtual analog instrument, as each synthesis section offers some rather unusual features.

Thanks to its thought-out synthesis system, this instrument delivers rich sounds ranging from classic to experimental, with oscillators that offer classic waveforms, additive and FM synthesis algorithms, filtered noise and more. For processing audio material, there’s not only a -12 dB multimode filter, but also a Formant filter with morphing function! A good basis for a wide palette of sounds.

The DR-2 is just as versatile with six digital DSP drum synth channels and a built-in 128-step drum sequencer. You get to choose from ten digital drum models, including the new Rumble BD, different snares, hats, claps and unusual algorithms like Glass Bottle. At first sight, the DR-2 feels recognizable in some ways. It can sound like the good old classic drum machines, and the step sequencer feels very familiar. But the sound synthesis can get you beyond the possibilities of a classic drum machine, and the step sequencer does more than just hitting drums...

We are already looking forward to meet Marcel and to welcome you as our guests on the 25th! See you at the workshop! Thursday 25. July – 7pm.
